NatureSpy are recruiting more volunteers to help with the search for Yorkshire’s most elusive mammal – the pine marten.

The Yorkshire Pine Marten Project has been running since late 2013, and uses camera traps to try and capture the first conclusive evidence of pine marten in Yorkshire for over 20 years.

New volunteers will add to those already helping set up and collect camera traps on the Moors, getting hands-on and learning about the technology used in the process. Its also important that applicants are physically fit as most volunteer days involve long tracks in remote areas, on Forestry Commission land.

More information about the roles and an application form can be found here.

Meanwhile, the Yorkshire Post has been taking a closer look at the project and the history of pine martens in Yorkshire… read the article here.
