Back to DeeScover Project
New DeeScover project launches!
NatureSpy have launched a new project that will find the ‘wilder’ side of the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley AONB.
The project will of course be using camera traps to uncover the rarer and under-recorded species that live in some of Wales’ most stunning scenery.
Funded by the Clwydian Range & Dee Valley AONB and NatureSpy, it is hoped that the project will generate awareness and understanding of the sustainable use of the AONB and the wildlife within it.
Certain high-priority species will be targeted and new camera trap techniques will be employed over the course of the project to try and increase the chances of capture – although some of the usual suspects will undoubtedly also turn up!
As well as looking for the AONB’s wilder side, DeeScover will also be visiting primary schools in the area to engage pupils with the often-unseen wildlife that lives on their doorstep.
10 volunteers will be helping make the project a success – through collecting and setting up camera traps and submitting the resulting wildlife records to Cofnod, North Wales’ Environmental Record Centre.
We’re also working closely with other partners, such as Denbighshire Countryside Service and North Wales Wildlife Trust, to try and access as much of the AONB as possible.
All the best footage will of course be posted right here on the NatureSpy website and on our social media pages.
