TOP 4G PERFORMANCE

Integrated antenna

The Camojojo Trace can connect to EE, o2 and Vodafone networks - meaning wherever you want to put the camera, signal isn't an issue.

Video transmission as standard

Unlike most cellular cameras, the Camojojo Trace has video transmission baked in. Usually, this is a costly extra on other 4G trail cameras, or the quality is very poor.

On the Trace, the video quality is very good, and the transmission quick. The best thing though? There is no extra cost. For the cost of the plans, see the 'How much does the camera cost to run?' FAQ below.

Video clips are max. 10 seconds each in length, with the camera able to retrigger again quickly if activity remains.

Control via the Camojojo app

App controlled

The camera is fully controlled via the Camojojo App. Change the settings, check activity, and download images.

You get notifications whenever new activity is detected so you can jump right in and see whats going on.

The app is minimal and easy to use and understand. Reviewing clips in the gallery and downloading the ones you want couldn't be more straightforward.

You also get stats about how busy a camera is, how many triggers in recent time periods etc.

Tried and tested

We're not just guessing when it comes to the Camojojo Trace. We use it, long-term.

This is the cellular camera we deploy for year-round monitoring in remote forests on the North York Moors, as part of our Yorkshire Pine Marten Pathways Project. No other cellular camera has been able to connect so reliably to the weak signal in these areas, giving us complete peace of mind and a constant eye in the forest.

Power options

The Trace has a battery cartridge that can take a maximum of 12x AA batteries, however the camera can also run using only 8x AA batteries. The camera can use Alkaline, Lithium or NiMH rechargeable batteries (with a capacity of at least 2500mAh) - however for the best battery life and performance we would recommend Energizer Ultimate Lithiums.

If you want to use the camera on a long-term deployment we would recommend considering the Camojojo Solar Panel. Mounted in a south-facing orientation, this panel can power the Trace throughout the year.

WATCH REAL WORLD EXAMPLES FROM THIS CAMERA

Easy mounting

The camera comes with an adjustable bracket that you can fix to the back of the camera. This helps angle and centre the camera on your target location.

The Trace comes with a 1m strap for mounting to a tree or a post. There is also a slot in the back of the camera body to run a python lock through if you need additional security, as well as a loop in the camera door for a small padlock.

Live streaming

Live streaming is available ‘Boost’ and ‘Auto’ modes. Although this feature increases battery consumption, it's a great tool for instantly checking on a spot that you are currently monitoring.

When you receive a notification from the app about activity, this can be used as a cue to jump onto the live mode and watch the action.

Programmable timers

The camera has two programmable capture windows that you can use if you want to restrict the camera to only trigger at specific times (e.g. if you only want to capture footage at night you can program the camera to only record between 18:00 and 08:00).

FAQs

The Trace has a built-in antenna and it automatically searches for and connects to the strongest network (EE, Telefonica (O2) and Vodafone) in any location - so you can be confident that you will always have the best signal in your chosen location. The camera comes ready to go with a SIM card pre-installed and activated (note, this SIM cannot be changed).

The antenna is not a long obvious aerial on the side - its actually the tilting plate on top of the camera. Its less susceptible to breakages than other cellular cameras, with no exposed metal that can rust, and also provides better network reception.

The signal strength we've been able to get on the Camojojo Trace is better than on any other cellular camera.

There are two ways to do this. The first, and main way on this camera, is via the Camojojo App. Its a simple but efficient app thats very easy to use. You can download images and thumbnail videos easily. If you want, you can request full-res videos providing you have a HD package.

The second is by plugging the camera into a computer via the provided cable. The camera has no accessible memory card.

As with all 4G cameras, there are running costs associated.

Annual and monthly transmission plans are available (prices are in Euros):

Basic: Annual €64.99 / Monthly €5.99 = 300 photos/videos a month
Elite: Annual €99.99 / Monthly €9.99 = 800 photos/videos a month + 120 HD requests a month + 10mins of livestreaming a month.
Premier: Annual €139.99 / Monthly €14.99 = Unlimited photos/videos a month + 240 HD requests a month + 20mins of livestreaming a month

You can also purchase additional add-ons for each plan if you need more HD photo/video requests or livestreaming minutes:

HD Package: €5.99 = additional 100 HD requests
Live Stream Package: €9.99 = additional 60mins of livestreaming
