An integrated solar panel, local WiFi connection and control, and fantastic 4K video quality.

Named Helarctos, meaning 'sun bear', and the result of over a year of testing and refining, the sun's finally come up.

We don't want to spoil the surprise - everything is dispatched in boxes that hide the contents, with nothing on the outside to give them away.

Our normal returns period is also extended until 21st January 2025. Anything bought on or after the 10th November 2024 is covered!

Find out more about last order dates here.

Our warehouse works hard to dispatch any orders received before 2pm each weekday (and some after 2pm!). Your delivery speed will depend on the shipping method you choose at checkout. 98% of our parcels arrive with wildlife-watchers the next working day.

Please note, bulk orders may occasionally take longer to dispatch, depending on size. If in doubt, get in touch with us, and we'll make it happen.

4K Video

Solar Powered

Local WiFi

Let the sunshine in

Solar, 4K, WiFi. Ready to go.

Over a year in the making, the Helarctos Solar wildlife camera ups the game and can run and run on free solar energy.

Oh - it also records in full 4K and has a local WiFi connection too. Done.

4K video, day and night

We're all about video quality at NatureSpy. Its the first question we ask about every wildlife camera. The Helarctos Trail Camera goes full 4K HD footage, day and night, at 30 frames per second. The LEDs evenly light the frame at night too.

Watch the spines on the hedgehog, the thick hairs on the badger's back, the spots on the cheetah's face.

Bye-bye batteries

The future of trail cameras is solar. The Helarctos pays for itself after a year on video mode in battery savings alone*, powered by sunshine.

The solar panel works well in shady areas too, keeping the battery topped up.

And if you're camera is particularly busy, you can use 4x AA backup batteries or bring the camera in to recharge via USB-C.

*Compared to a non-solar camera taking 30 videos a day on Lithium batteries

WiFi managed

You can connect to the Helarctos wirelessly, via a local WiFi connection.

When within 25-30ft of the camera, use the App to connect, download footage, change settings and see a live view.

Great if you have the camera up a tree for an owl box, or a steep river bank - or, if you don't fancy walking to the end of the garden!

Whatever the weather

The built-in solar panel likes sunshine, but its not always sunny.

The IP66-rated casing can withstand any weather Mother Nature can throw at it - whether its rain-soaked Welsh valleys, drizzled English gardens or even a rainforest deluge.

We also back the Helarctos with a 2 year warranty, handled by our UK staff. All NatureSpy wildlife cameras start with us thinking about the weather!

Easy to use

Having a trail camera that is intuitive and easy to use is paramount. We want users to be able to focus on the wildlife watching,

A clear, detailed manual and easy to understand settings mean using the Helarctos is straightforward.

Mount up

The Helarctos comes with a strong nylon strap that allows you to place the camera on a tree, post or similar.

Alternatively, the standard tripod mount on the back means you can mount it quickly on our MiniPod or another standard tripod.

Different

As with all our own wildlife cameras, we wanted to distinguish this trail camera from those catering specifically to the American hunting industry, which is the common focus for most other trail cameras on the market. The Helarctos is wildlife focused.

FAQs

No - the camera has internal Lithium rechargeable batteries. These are charged via the solar panel or, if required, the supplied USB cable.

If you're camera is super busy, you may need to supplementarily charge the camera or use 4x AA batteries as a backup.

The warranty length is 2 years. Any problems and you can contact our UK-based team of experts and we'll get things sorted out.

The WiFi connection is local only - meaning that it does not connect to the internet, but rather creates its own WiFi network for your phone to connect to. This means it can be super power efficient.

You can connect to the camera when within 25-30ft. If there are lots of obstacles, you may need to be closer. If there is a very clear line between your device and the camera, you can get a connection further away.

Once connected, you can watch and download clips, see a live view to check positioning etc and change settings.

Well you can - but it'll run the batteries down pretty quickly! The live view is not designed for prolonged viewing. Its there so you can check that you've positioned your camera properly before leaving it.

You can certainly connect and check the live view as you wish, but this will use the battery faster.

In sunlight (or partial sunlight) the solar panel trickle charges the battery. How long this takes depends on how much sunlight there is, how intense it is, and the general temperature.

As a rough guide, to charge the battery from 5% to 100% takes 7-14 days. In reality, leaving your camera running somewhere with a bit of sunshine and taking less than 30 videos a day means it can just keep running.

If the camera can't charge faster than the batteries are being used, you can bring the camera in to charge for a boost, or use the AA backup batteries to keep it going in the darker months.
