FAQs

We've designed the WiFi WildCam 3 to have the strongest WiFi aerial possible. The WiFi WildCam 3 connects to your home network and it does not produce its own WiFi signal.

The range of your WiFi depends on your router and obstacles like walls, however this usually extends up to 7-10 metres. You can boost this by placing a mains WiFi extender near to the location.

The NatureSpy app will show the camera's signal strength, helping you find the best spot for the camera.

You can also use your phone to roughly gauge the WiFi strength in the intended location.

The WildCam 3 is designed to work with a permanent WiFi connection. However, it will work outside of WiFi range - recording and saving clips.

Whilst outside of range, it will re-check for a WiFi connection every 10 minutes. This means that you can place it outside of range for a night or two, but it will use the battery much quicker due to it searching for WiFi connection.

To view the clips captured while outside of range, you will need to bring the camera back within range of WiFi, and connect via the app to view the playback.

The WiFi WildCam 3 can be used with Apple Mac running on Apple Silicon (M1 and above). Download the NatureSpy app from the App Store and sign in.

There is no supported app on Windows or Intel systems.

The WiFi WildCam 3 connects to both 2.5GHz and 5GHz routers - switching to whichever has the strongest reception. In your garden, it will use 2.4GHz as that has a much bigger range than 5GHz.

The WiFi WildCam 3 has been optimised for recording wildlife - although it will trigger on passing vehicles, humans etc too - just like any other wildlife camera.

For wildlife, the camera is best positioned low to the ground - we recommend no higher than 4ft. It uses low-glow LEDs to provide light at night and these do give off a faint red glow when the camera is triggered.
